My co-workers are fed up with the way our office is led. Our managers do not communicate very well, so our schedules are often thrown off course because of conflicting events. I think this is unfair, and I wish they would make a stronger effort to organize everyone. These problems have been going on for a long time, and I reached my limit last week when the HVAC unit gave out. It happened suddenly, and the manager called an HVAC technician immediately. He was scheduled to come that afternoon, but the person who was supposed to let him in the building for the repair was stuck in a meeting across town. This was a huge inconvenience because he was not able to return for another three days. We were forced to spend these days without an A/C, and we were all miserable. Now that it is fixed, my hope is that this never happens again. It was a major learning experience for me and everyone else in the office, and I am all but fed up with these kinds of things happening. I really think our leadership team needs to be more respectful of the fact that a cooling system is directly connected to how well we are able to perform. I can’t get my job done in a stuffy office, and I don’t think anyone else in my office should be expected to do so. This whole ordeal made me want to start looking for an entirely new job. I will be surprised if I stay for more than six months.
Last night I went to a concert with a few of my friends. The band we saw was one of our favorites, and we were all very excited. We bought 4 seat so that we could be close and get a good view of their performance. About 20 minutes into the show I was very much regretting my decision. While standing in a crowd of people, it’s easy to get overheated. The HVAC unit in the music venue was not nearly as powerful as it should have been to keep everyone comfortable during the show. When designing a space that is meant to hold hundreds of people at a time, it is important to make sure that the air conditioner works well. I got so hot that I couldn’t stay for the remainder of the show. I saw about half of it and I decided to go home. As soon as I stepped out of the building, I felt much better because I could breathe. I went straight home to turn on my own A/C so that I could relax and soak in some cool air. I don’t think I will ever be returning to that music venue because I don’t want to have to deal with that situation again. My friends were able to stay for the entire show, but they also complained about the air conditioner problem. An A/C is an important fixture in any space, but especially for one that is meant for crowds. It’s a shame that I couldn’t stay for the entire show because I really enjoy that band. Hopefully I will get to see them again in a different area.
While I was sitting on my couch the other day, I heard a very loud explosion coming from the basement. It was so loud that the entire floor shook, and I almost fell out of the couch. I raced down to the basement to see what the issue was, but I did not find anything on fire or out of place. While I was inspecting the area, I heard another loud explosion, but this time it felt like it was right next to me. I looked over at my gas furnace, and there was a small fire erupting out of the furnace. Fearing that the next explosion from the gas furnace might lead to a much larger fire, I ran back upstairs and out the front door. I sat outside for nearly thirty minutes waiting for the next explosion, but nothing seemed to happen. I called a local HVAC company and told them the issue I was having, and they sent someone out immediately to address my issue. I told the HVAC repair man to be careful when entering the house, as I was afraid that the furnace might erupt with him in there. I told him that I was going to wait outside, but I would be there for him if he needed anything. After an hour passed, the HVAC repair man returned back outside and told me that the problem had been fixed. He advised that there was a clogged burned in the furnace that was causing it to periodically build up excess gas to the point of a small explosion. He was able to clear it out, and he advised that I should not have any further issues with the furnace. Unfortunately, I still got little sleep that night.
My family leases a hunting lodge about an hour away from our house. It is a beautiful property that is filled with trails, lakes, trees, and a variety of animals. In the middle of the property, there is a cabin that we stay in when we visit the property. We have invested a significant amount of money into the cabin to have it fully furnished and ready for use. A friend of ours even goes out to the property every two weeks to keep the grass cut as well. Last week, we decided to make a quick trip to the lodge. Upon arrival, we noticed that the air conditioning system in the front window of the cabin was missing. As we went to the door, we could see where someone had kicked it in. The thieves had gone through the entire cabin, and they stole all three air conditioning units that we had purchased for it. We also noticed that the grass had not been cut in several months. Obviously, the people who stole the air conditioning systems had seen how tall the grass was and assumed that the place had been vacated. Needless to say, we were not too happy with our friend who was supposed to be cutting the grass, and my brother even pointedly blamed him for the theft of the air conditioning systems. Personally, I only blame the people who stole the air conditioning units. I really can not understand what goes through the mind of a person like that. Why would they think it is morally acceptable to steal someone else’s air conditioning?
On hot summer days where I live, all I want to do is stay inside, read, and watch movies. The weather where I live is pretty extreme, and the temperatures can reach the high nineties during summer. I find these temperatures absolutely unbearable. When I wake up in the mornings and realize that it’s going to be extremely hot, I adjust the thermostat so that the cool air starts circulating immediately. I would hate to have to deal with any kind of issues with my air conditioner because the cooler is what lets me create a refuge on these days. My routine usually goes something like this. After adjusting the thermostat, I will fix breakfast. After that I will read for an hour or an hour and a half. Next, I will find a good movie to watch and kick back beneath an air vent so that the cool air is blowing on me while I am entertained. I work in the evenings, so after I have relaxed for a little while, I feel reenergized and ready to go. As much as I can’t stand being outside during summer, it does give me more incentive to enjoy myself indoors. An air conditioner really is a necessity in the area where I live, and it makes my life much more comfortable. Without my A/C, I probably would not be able to create such a nice routine for myself. I try not to take my home appliances for granted because I know that they help me live a much easier life.
My grandmother recently moved into a tiny one-bedroom apartment. Her three bedroom home had gotten too much for her to take care of, so she wanted to downsize. The apartment is really cute and she is excited to be any more manageable space. The only issue she is having with the places the fact that the air conditioner has to run all the time to keep the place cool. I think that the property managers need to have an HVAC technician come out to inspect it. My guess is that it needs some serious cleaning and some minor repairs done so that it can be more efficient. In the meantime, I am considering buying my grandmother a portable air conditioner so that she can use it to keep her bedroom cool in the evenings. We live in a very dry and arid region of the country, and it can get pretty unbearable during summers. I hate the thought of her not being able to get comfortable in her own home, so I won’t at all mind if I need to buy her the portable cooling unit. My grandmother is very easygoing. She’s not one to complain, so I have had to pry all of this information out of her. She has helped me out a lot over the years, so I don’t mind helping her out. My family is very close, so we all want to make sure she is comfortable and happy in her new set-up. Hopefully, the apartment complex will have the HVAC unit inspected soon so that this will no longer be a problem at all. That’s what any responsible company would do.
I’m a huge proponent of saving energy wherever possible. I feel as though modern day consumers are far too reliant on the energy company, and we waste most of the energy we purchase by being inefficient. That’s why I’m trying to reduce my carbon footprint for the good of the world, and the benefit of my checkbook as well. I’ve been trying to cut down on the amount of time I’m in the car, the amount of TV I watch, and usage of lights around my house, but none of these factors was making a huge difference in my monthly energy bill at the end of the day. That’s when I started looking into alternative heating and cooling options for my home. I just discovered a new technique, or at least it’s new to me, called closed loop circuit heating and cooling. It’s a simple premise that taps into the power of mother nature to keep your house perfectly tempered throughout the entire year, with no energy expenditure at all! How it works is you find a natural body of water underground, assumedly a stream or spring, and tap into that source with a metal prod. The probe is then connected to your home via metal conduits and another terminal, and like magic you have created a closed circuit! It works by transfering energy back and forth; so if it was warmer in the underground spring than in your home, energy would transfer down the wire into your home, effectively heating it..I’m saying goodbye to my conventional furnace as we speak!
We just recently relocated from across the country to a brand new city and climate. I had only ever resided in the same state until now, and was accustomed to the wildly variable seasonal climate, so moving was a big deal for me. I’ve been trying to get used to the much hotter and more humid environment around here, but I think it’s going to take me some time to adjust fully. This has been apparent during the first week while we’ve been struggling to settle into our new house and we’ve had to use the air conditioning at least 100% more than we used to. I’ve been working on a lot of projects around the house, and have had a desperate need for increased AC compared to usual. Yesterday, in particular, I began working on painting new furniture and even with the indoor temperature set to 70 degrees, I was sweating bullets and ruining my work. I turned the thermostat down further, but the house takes so long to cool down that I knew I couldn’t wait for it to reach temperature or else my project would be ruined. Desperate to make more progress, I started pulling out every fan that we own and setting them all up in the project room. Soon I had more than half a dozen box fans and utility fans blasting away in the little space, creating a cool whirlwind effect that felt truly miraculous on my sweaty body. The extra ventilation was exactly what I needed to take the AC to the next level.
It takes an insightful and genius person, to run a well working machine. That’s how I feel about running my local church. It is my responsibility to make sure that people are in the seats during our worship services. Some people might refer to this as advertising, but I prefer to look at it as my calling. One of the best ways to make sure that people want to attend the church services, is by making the indoor atmosphere feel great. Our church recently invested in a brand new HVAC system. Our church was in the middle of some remodeling, and it seemed like the perfect time to upgrade our HVAC system as well. Some normal complaints about our services, have been about the HVAC system. During the winter services, most people complain about the furnace. It doesn’t seem to work as well as it once did. I would even find myself with cold hands and feet during the morning services. Some many people asked about a new furnace. The remodel was the best time to incur additional expenses, so we starting shopping the market for a brand new HVAC system. Our building contractor recommended a few different HVAC contractors. Once we chose our contractor, we scheduled a consultation with an HVAC salesperson. We decided to purchase a brand new furnace and air conditioner condenser. We also paid to have our entire HVAC duct network, cleaned and sanitized thoroughly. Our HVAC contractor even supplied a brand new window A/C unit, for our preacher’s office. The new HVAC system works really well, and it even saves us money on our utility bills.
Last weekend was my daughter’s 8th birthday. My mom decided to buy her granddaughter a gerbil for her birthday. I asked my mom on many different occasions, not to buy my daughter a pet. My mom decided to buy a gerbil for my daughter anyways. A few days ago, the gerbil disappeared into the HVAC system. We bought one of those small round canisters for the gerbil. You can place the animal inside, and they can roll around on the floor in the house. Somehow, the gerbil got outside of the ball and entered our HVAC ducting. We looked for hours upon hours, before we heard the sounds of her small pet. I opened the HVAC ducting with a screwdriver, but I could not get the small pet to come over to me. I didn’t know what else to do, other than contact our local HVAC representative. If nothing else, it would be a laughable story for someone who answered the phone. We have an HVAC service that we use on a regular basis, so I decided to give them a call. I spoke with a woman on the telephone, and explained the entire situation. She did chuckle a little bit about our unfortunate problem, but she assured me that she could help us. A few hours later, an HVAC technician arrived to help with the problem. We could easily hear our friend in the HVAC ducting, and the technician located our friend in the Attic area. After a small time of searching around, our technician was finally able to get to our pet. I am never going to let my mother live this down.
