I start the job next week where I am training to become an Heating as well as A/C specialist. I will be starting out as an assistant to a certified heating and cooling professional. I am a bit uneasy as I had zero previous experience other than using tools around the house and changing the air filters on our A/C units at home.
Some friends who are already working as A/C techs told me that I would be doing a lot of fetching for the senior specialist: getting tools ready, cleaning coils, changing air filters, vacuuming out congested drain lines; basically, doing all the little things that don’t take a lot of know-how but that are still essential to the work.
The senior specialist I will be exclusively working with has worked in the industry for over twenty years. He is one of the best of the best. He told me just to relax and prepare to be run ragged. He said that there were no questions too stupid to ask, and that he expected me to suppose on our feet and to not stand idle.
He mentioned to me that we both would also be assisting with up-to-date installs on heating systems, multi-cut portable A/Cs and official central A/C units. I am excited to learn all I can about different kinds of equipment installs and service.
I feel genuinely fortunate to be able to start a job in an industry as fast-growing and innovative as the Heating as well as A/C technology sector seems to be. With up-to-date wireless temperature controls, climate control systems, and of course the ductless mini cut A/Cs, I am going to be always learning up-to-date skills to keep up with the changing technology. I couldn’t be more excited to be part of a such a rapidly evolving industry.
