I have five children all crammed in my basic small home. With my luck, they are all close enough in age that there is constant fighting. Really, I do everything I can to minimize the number of fights, then each boy is in a different athletic interest as well. In the end, there is no competing. They all wear different colored clothes so there is no sharing, then both of us also rotate who gets the front seat of the car for every drive out. The best is that my house has HVAC zone control. I used to have a central HVAC component that had air duct in our home only. The heating plus cooling method would keep the house all to a centralized temperature. Each room in the loft was the same too. The problem was that some of my kids wanted AC while the others wanted heating accessed. And, seriously, nobody could agree on a temperature control program. So when I had to get new HVAC equipment, I updated it a lot. I got rid of the air ducts in my house plus went with a ductless mini split unit. Each kid has an indoor air handler set up in their own room now. The component can give both heating plus cooling. Each boy has their own temperature control too. So they can set their own study room to whatever they want or feel they need. So, one kid can have high a/c while his sibling next door has the gas furnace cranked. Since the HVAC method is ductless, there is no worry of the other rooms being over heated or cooled, but HVAC zone control has helped us out so much with the fighting plus with my weekly energy bills.
