There are times when I wonder how people were able to get along in the days before electricity was invented. These days, almost everything is powered by electricity! Everything you can imagine including TV, boomboxes, washers and dryers, and lights on the streets. You need electricity in commercial locations and at your dwelling… What did people in blazing hot temperatures do before AC came about? I suppose that the answer is essentially just making do with what you have, but having enjoyed wonderful air quality from a Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C appliance, who would want to give that up for something less? Even fans – stationary and ceiling – and window AC units, are powered by electricity! On the rare occasion when a community is thrown into complete darkness by a power cut, everybody can’t wait for the power to come back on. With no power to run Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C appliances, people complain relentlessly. Opening a window in the evening to welcome a breeze in, is not an option various residents are comfortable with. And while you could make a breeze by fanning with a book, there is certainly no way can you find a substitute for TV, washing device or the fridge. Hospitals, nursing homes and other such locations, do have backup generators, since a lack of electricity can particularly result in a loss of life. But generators are not cheap and there really aren’t many private residents who can afford them. When the power is eventually restored, it is a little something like the fourth of July! People are easily overcome with joy, honking horns and making loud, glad noises! Lights are lit up again everywhere, TV’s are turned on again, and people can once again have a relaxing time with wonderful quality indoor air, courtesy of their Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C appliances.
