Rainy day heating

Today is one of those rainy Wednesdays where you’re stuck inside & beginning to get house fever. The kids & I did all kinds of inside things. Both of us played board games, drew pictures, made puzzles, built with building blocks, made chocolate chip cookies, & so on, eventually every one of us ran out of things to do, & it was only one o’clock in the day. I asked if anyone wanted to go outside & walk in the rain with umbrellas. “Yes!” everyone yelled at once. So out every one of us went, got thoroughly soaked (I knew they wouldn’t stay under the umbrellas), & finally came back inside. Of course every one of us needed to put on dry clothes, however it sure was nice to be able to hang the wet clothes on family room chairs draped over the registers for the forced air oil furnace heat to dry them. Next I turned up the temperature control a few degrees for extra warmth so that every one of us could cuddle over the living room air register. It was just Last week that every one of us had the oil furnace serviced by our HVAC company, who also cleaned the HVAC ducts. With a disinfect bill of health, I was definitely glad to have such a great oil furnace blowing heated air on us. It wasn’t quite a cozy as the cast iron radiators that I sat on as a kid in our old farmhouse. Both of us had a sizable boiler in the basement, & I can still hear the gurgling hot water flowing through the coils of the radiators. But I do enjoy our gas powered oil furnace in our newer home, & it has great response to any adjustment that I ever make on our temperature control. Today was such a great day to have the assurance of a cozy apartment with sizzling blowing air after getting chilly & wet outside.
