Last weekend some friends invited me to go play disc golf with them… Though it was an incredibly hot day, but I couldn’t turn them down because it was generous of them to cover the cost for me to be in the game. So I went but I undoubtedly struggled the entire time. It easily wasn’t just me though–all the people was struggling pretty bad. Finally by the end of the day when the lot of us were all through, I couldn’t wait to get back into my car plus crank on the cooling system. I was perspiring so terribly that earlier I dumped some water over head. Yet that only helped for a short while until that blazing sunlight made me feel hot once again. I was feeling a lot better when I had the a/c blasting for a little as the car idled in the parking lot. I went to a gas station to get a cool drink. Then I decided to grab some food for our family before I headed back home. I didn’t suppose my our partner was cooking a meal but I figured he could use a night off anyway. I brought back chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes plus some root beer for my partner and our twin boys. The teenagers were glad because they appreciated chicken, and my partner wasn’t cooking anything yet so I figured he was fine too. He asked me about the day plus I told him about the scorching heat plus how hard it was to get through without a cooling system. I was just thankful to be back at our condo; here the a/c really felt fantastic.
My son has become a very successful marijuana farmer, working as a supplier for the legally operated local dispensaries. At first I thought it was shady work, but everything is nice and above board. What a time to be alive, when a father can brag about his son the pot grower, it still makes my head spin! He loves his work, makes a good living, so I really have no rational alternative than to be happy for him, right? I support him in every way I can, both morally, spiritually, and even professionally. This is including when I lend my HVAC expertise to his projects, because he knows what kind of climate conditions are best for the plants, but he can’t control them. I do have the experience and the hands on know-how to set up any kind of climate control equipment, and how to calibrate it for best results. At first I set up heating systems in his first little greenhouses. Now he has a fairly massive grow house, with two hundred plants in it, so he needed a more advanced HVAC system to keep everything in order. It was actually kind of fun, because I have been retired from the HVAC industry for a few years now, and it was nice to get my hands dirty again. Most of the work was in getting it set up, now I only need to come by and check the HVAC equipment once a week or so. It could actually be only once a month, but I use the HVAC inspection as an excuse to hang out with my son.
When my son came to me and explained how he was planning to start growing “weed” in the backyard, I had to ask him to repeat himself! Expecting my shock, he showed me the paperwork, along with permits from the state and local authorities that allotted legal permissions to start a small marijuana farm. Doing this, he would supply a local marijuana dispensary. I remember the hippie days I used to experience, so this was all quite a shock to my system to know it was not only legal to grow, but to sell as well! Once I looked everything over and could clearly see it was clear of any legal troubles, I got on board to help him succeed! I may not know a whole lot of anything about growing pot – sorry, “marijuana”, though I certainly do know a thing or two about greenhouse setups. I spent about a decade of my life working as a Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C technician, and in that time I was setting up units in all manner of homes plus businesses! I knew about heating and cooling equipment, just as I was well-versed in ventilation, and regulation of humidity and temperature control settings. With his horticultural expertise and my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C experience, we thought the most effective greenhouses could be built in town! Once the greenhouses had been built, I brought in a small Heating, Ventilation, and A/C technician for each greenhouse, and made sure there was a smart control component for each one! This way, my son could check the temperature control settings and conditions remotely, while still being able to adjust them as much as he needed. Humidity levels and temperature control systems would be unquestionably important to track, and it took a few afternoons to dial those in before they were all in tune! Now it has been a couple of fast months, and now the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C systems are running smoothly while the plants are starting to grow extremely well!
When I told my dad that I was going to start growing marijuana in the backyard of my house, he was understandably taken aback – and incredibly confused. I then showed him the proper paperwork, including permits from the state as well as the local authorities that proved legal permission to start a “grow”. This was all quite a shock to him, but he knew that I wasn’t going to play dumb games with the law or make a poor investment. Once he looked everything over and saw it was clean-cut, he got on board to help me succeed – thank god for that! He may not know a ton about growing marijuana, but he is a thoroughly experienced Heating & Air Conditioning specialist that spent two decades setting up components in all manner of homes and businesses. He knew about heating and cooling equipment options, ventilation, humidity regulation and temperature control systems to boot. With my horticultural expertise and his Heating & Air Conditioning experience, the two of us were going to be the dynamic duo of hometown “grow” operations. Once we built greenhouses, my dear old dad brought in Heating & Air Conditioning components for each of the greenhouses to make sure there was a smart thermostat for each one. He could check the climate control settings and conditions remotely, and adjust them as needed – how cool is that? Humidity levels and temperature controls would both be critical for ensuring these plants grew to their full potential, plus it took a few afternoons to dial those in. Now it has been a couple of weeks, the Heating & Air Conditioning systems are running smoothly, plus the plants are starting to grow!
When my son came to me and explained that he was going to start growing marijuana in the backyard, I was, well… taken back. He showed me the paperwork for his “grow”, loaded with usual permits from the state and local authorities that gave legal permission to start his new supplying process for a local dispensary. This was all quite a shock to me, but once I looked everything over and saw it was legally clear, I got on board and wanted to help him with his plan. I may not know much about growing these plants, though I know more than a thing or two when it comes to building a greenhouse! I spent 20 years of my life working as an Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C specialist, which included setting up components and A/C units in all manner of homes and businesses around the state. I knew about heating and cooling equipment, just as I knew about ventilation. Regulating humidity, temperature control and more worked with his horticultural knowledge, and together we could make the most effective greenhouses in town. Once the houses were built, I brought in a small Heating, Ventilation, and A/C component for each house. I made sure there was a smart thermostat in each greenhouse to ensure we could check the temperature control settings and conditions remotely. Doing so also meant we could adjust them as needed. Humidity and temperature were now both under our control and certainly made it easier for us to help our plants grow! The Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C systems are running smoothly now, and the plants are growing faster than any other “grow” in the area.
When our child came to me the other day, and said she was going to start growing marijuana in the backyard, I was understandably caught off-guard. Then she showed me the paperwork, with respected permits from the state and local authorities that gave her legal permission to start a “grow” to supply a local marijuana dispensary. I remember the hippie nights, so this was all quite a shock to me! Still, I looked everything over and saw it was perfectly legitimate. I got on board to help her succeed from that point moving on. I may not think very highly about growing pot plants, however I know a thing or two about greenhouse systems. After all, I spent 20 years of my adult life working as an Heating & A/C technician, where I was setting up equipment in all forms of homes and businesses to provide quality heating and air conditioning functions. I knew about heating and cooling equipment, as I also knew about ventilation and how to regulate humidity. With her horticultural knowledge, my Heating & A/C experience combined with her formal training and education to make the most effective greenhouse systems in town! Once the houses were built, I brought in a small Heating & A/C unit for each greenhouse. We made sure there was a smart thermostat for each greenhouse, as we’d have the ability to check in on the control settings for the temperature from our phones. Monitoring aside, we could also adjust the settings for each thermostat as needed. Humidity levels and temperature controls would both be easily more important than most other factors to help with growing the plants, and it took a few nights to dial those in to be perfectly tuned. Now it has been a couple of months, and the Heating & A/C systems are running smoothly to assist the plants in their growth.

I know my heating unit is pushing dust around the house… I will admit it, I don’t take good care of the equipment. I just let the heating system stand all year long stationary. It could have a ton of heating system repairs and be filled with dust. I think that every year it turns on with no issue. I know I should have gotten a cleaning date though, and it’s made my whole home is disgusting. I did a Fall cleaning right before I turned on my heating equipment. I washed all the carpets, sheets and dusted all my surfaces. I then turned on my heating system and I noticed the current home is gross again, but the odor in the current home is gross and stale, then all of my furniture is coated in dust. The end tables are icky and my shelves have a layer of dust on top of them. I need to clean the whole home again. I am wondering if this is a 1 time dusting or if the heating system will forever gross up my home; Will the dust just keep pumping out of the heater? Or has the heating unit gotten rid of all the dust? I think that next year I will do a little more heating system prep. I’m not sure if I want to call an actual Heating and A/C supplier or do a simple cleaning appointment. I know I could clean my heating system on my own; it can’t be that hard, right? I just need to open it up, vacuum and dust the inside. It should not even take an hour, then even if it took numerous hours though, it would be worth it to get rid of all of the dust.
Creating zone control for our heating and cooling has proven to be a difficult and pricey task! My house started out just being central Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C. I had a single Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C unit linked to ductwork, and with the HVAC ducts, every room in the house had access to warm and cool air… No room could have a peculiar temperature, but every space got access to heating as well as cooling. After that system died, I got a ductless mini split, which comes with up to 8 indoor air handlers. You put an indoor air handler in each room of the house. The air handler then is what controls the heating as well as cooling. To have Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C zone control, the air handler needs its own thermostat hooked up. The room then can have peculiar heating as well as a/c from the others… Getting a current Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C unit, multiple indoor air handlers as well as thermostat installation was not cheap. It also was a lot of time. The HVAC technicians were coming in and out of the house for the entire day. Now that my family and I have grown accustomed to zone controlled heating and cooling, I will never go back. It just makes sense to have rapidly increasing temperatures in peculiar rooms. No woman wants the same temperature when they sleep. Also, the family room having the same temperature as the study room doesn’t make sense… Cooking particularly can change the whole room’s temperature as well as what the woman wants. The powder room should consistently just be a bit on the hot side. My family is saving money as well as added comfort with this.
The heating that we have in our basement is amazing, sometimes a little too amazing. I rent out an apartment in the basement. The unit stays warm by means of an old boiler. The place was severely dated when I moved in, but I expected this for the price I received. Dated, however, should not mean that certain appliances just don’t work. It finally got cold enough to switch on the furnace a few days ago. After a few minutes though, it felt so warm in there that I needed to peel a few layers off before I started sweating. I looked at the thermostat and saw that the basement temperature read at 75 degrees. That would have been fine had I not set the control at 70! I couldn’t believe that the heater was still running, but it was still whirring away! It was like the thermostat didn’t know to shut the unit off once the desired temperature was met. This means that, even when I don’t want it to, the heat just keeps running. The worst part is that I am burning through much needed fuel when I don’t even want it to. I spoke with the landlord about replacing the thermostat with an updated one, but all she does is says it works fine and doesn’t need fixing. Now I have to keep a constant watch over my thermostat and heating equipment, or it will become way too hot for me to appreciate the equipment I have.
