A couple years ago, my daughter took my granddaughters and I on a vacation to the Gulf Coast. We had a house that was a couple miles inland and it was gorgeous. There were two bedrooms and two sofa beds in the living room. The bathroom had a large garden tub with a small washroom off to the side. It was like being home, but better. They had planned a trip to go swimming and snorkelling, and I opted to stay back at the house while they were gone. I was going to indulge in a long soak in the tub. I had my bottle of wine, the water was coming out at just the right temperature, and I was looking forward to relaxing and reading my book. I got into the tub and jumped right back out. The water was so cold that I was shivering. That was also when I realized the air conditioning had quit working. I quickly got dressed and I looked at the emergency instructions. To me, this was an emergency. I was from the north and not used to all of the heat and humidity. I called the rental office and they said they would have a handyman come out and looked at the the HVAC, and I asked about the hot water, but they hung up. I was impatiently waiting for the handyman to show up and fix the AC and the hot water heater, when it hit me that the power wasn’t on. I found the breaker box, only to realize that when I was doing the laundry, I had inadvertently hit the handle on the breaker box, that had shut off the power to the house.
