What to do about the heater system

Now that my partner and I are getting older, the two of us are finding that the weather affects the way we feel on certain days. Arthritis has now set in to every joint in the body.  During the winter, the two of us have had to supplement our old boiler furnace with our wood burning heater. Since the two of us spend most of our time in the living room, it seems like the smartest move the two of us can make is to supplement the heating in this area. We are now on a set income, though, and so the two of us need to watch every penny we spend. We are constantly looking for somewhere to save a little bit of money. We’ve found that the two of us were able to save a big amount of money in winter by keeping our temperature control equipment set at sixty-six. We have a living area and it includes the kitchen, dining, and surrounding areas. The small wood burning heater keeps the temperature in this area around sixty-five. It takes a bit of labor to bring the wood in and just to be sure there is wood burning at all times. That little bit of added labor is worth more than the cost of a tank of oil plus our electricity use. We have found that our energy costs have been lowered by 10%.  Our oil use has been chopped down by nearly 25%. It is cooler in the bedroom plus the bathroom, however the two of us prefer a cooler bedroom at night. We bought a small space heating system for the bathroom which is able to heat up that small space quickly. It only runs while the two of us are getting our showers.
